Training secrets of the elite. #road2rio #bethebestyoucanbe #nevergiveup

I'm far too cynical for this sort of post, but I found this, and it's caused me some FEELINGS. I think it's my first ever 400m race, I was 7 or 8 years old. I remember it, well. At that age you broke lanes after 100m. I won (by some distance it seems) in a time of 72 seconds. 15 years later I'd run the same distance, a full 28 seconds quicker, at the Olympic Games. All while training on the same track as this photo, at Trafford AC. As a result of this very first go at the event I managed to travel the world to a ridiculous extent, make friends from all over the place, and experience the process of working hard towards something specific. Sometimes, VERY occasionally, I was lucky enough to know the joy of winning, of being relatively good at this specific physical task, in front of a bunch of people. This photo was my first race, some 23 years ago. This summer will most likely produce a photo of my last. Hopefully I'll be able to end it with a second Olympic Games. Whatever happens, I'm glad I came across this now rather than later - I've experienced more failures than i have successes in the sport, and somehow, no matter what level you reach, it never seems good enough. Looking at this however, maybe it was good enough after all. Anyway, I'm off to training and to revert back to sarcasm at every opportunity - see you later! #trackandfield #athletics

Ok we didn't win, BUT we did absolutely nail the straight arms by your side pose, so all is fair. #btsia

Back in the UK, flaunting my Arizonan tan at the BT Sports Industry Awards. @dnafithq up for the cutting-edge award, don't mind if I do. #btsia

That faint straight line running across picture is USA/Mexico border. Pretty anti-climactic for all the trouble it's caused - quite literally a line in the sand. #Mexico #usa #travel

Took this personality test after the legend @markdhamma pushed me to do so. Actually really interesting! Most importantly, I think the picture very accurately sums up my current look: long blonde hair, green lipstick, butterflies, holding a daffodil - uncanny!
