Shelly-Ann shines on day three
The results are in and you have voted Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce as your Performance of Day 3.
The 28-year-old Jamaican collected 51.26% of the overall website votes to win the race for performance of the day just as convincingly as her 100m final last night. Her gold medal was her third consecutive world 100m title, adding to her two Olympic golds making her possibly the greatest female sprinter of our generation. Of course cheering on your favourite athletes at the world championships is one thing, but we want the fan experience to go further than that. The IAAF, in conjunction with Official Partner adidas, is asking you, the fan, to vote for your favourite performance of each day.
After every evening session, a panel of experts will pick three athletes, who in any shape or form grabbed their imagination and will leave it to you to choose the winner.
Today's shortlist features a world-record-beater, a pocket rocket and a quadruple champion.
Shawn Barber
It took Shawn Barber only four jumps to take the pole vault crown. The Canadian caused one of the biggest surprises of the championships so far by dethroning not only the reigning world champion, Raphael Holzdeppe, but also defeating the world record holder, Renaud Lavillenie, on his way to gold. A first time clearance of 5.90m sealed the deal for the 21-year-old.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce
It was one of the most anticipated events of the championships, and Fraser-Pryce did not let the fans down. The Jamaican dominated the field in spectacular fashion taking the 100m victory in 10.76. She now holds three world championship titles, making her the most decorated woman in the event's history.
Ezekiel Kemboi
Just minutes after his compatriot Vivien Cheruiyot won Kenya's first gold of the championship, the 33-year-old led his nation to an incredible 1-2-3-4 sweep in the 3000m steeplechase. Even more impressively, his win secured him his fourth consecutive world championship title. Combined with his three world championship silver medals, you could say he has quite the collection.
