If you follow Katarina Johnson-Thompson you'll already know that she's crazy for Liverpool FC. We asked the newly crowned European indoor pentathlon champion to tell us her favourite five red men.

Steven Gerrard

“He is my favourite. When I think of Liverpool FC I think of Steven Gerrard. It’s devastating that he’s going to leave.

“I met him at Melwood [the Reds’ training ground] once and I met him in the Olympics the day after the heptathlon.

“I think I was talking to Maurice Greene at the time in the hospitality suite somewhere and then he walked past, and I remember just completely blanking Maurice Greene. The person I was with at the time was like ‘Do you want me introduce you?’ I just remember being like a star struck little kid.”

I CANNOT believe my friends and family let me meet Steven Gerrard looking like this šŸ˜æšŸ™ˆ #Tbt

Harry Kewell

“Only really because of the chant: “Harry, Harry Kewell” [to the tune of Daddy Cool by Boney M]. That was a great song.”

Jamie Carragher

“He was born and bred in Liverpool; cut from the same sort of cloth as Steven Gerrard. That night in Istanbul [Liverpool won the Champions League after penalties in 2005] I remember him being a major part of it.”

Jerzy Dudek

“Again because of Istanbul and what he did there. He tried to do the Bruce Grobbelaar. Well, he did do the Bruce Grobbelaar.”

Emile Heskey

“I remember having him on the back of my shirt as a little kid. I had him on the white one. It was a great kit.

“I can’t pick my favourite goal, there were so many! I remember he has the same birthday as me as well. That always stuck in my mind.”
