If you can’t find Bulgarian sprint ace Ivet Lalova-Collio then she’s probably in the shower singing Terence Trent D’Arby. Obviously.

1. I love to write

“Since I studied literature at high school I have always loved to write. It is a great way of expressing myself.

“My dream for many years was to study as a journalist and I considered studying journalism at university before deciding on International Relations.

“I love to write stories and last year when I was working with a life coach, she encouraged me to write a book – even if it is one which would never be published. I never got around it, but it is certainly something I would consider in future.

“I was proud of a birthday letter I recently completed. It was very motivational and emotional.

“I love writing and creating another world with words, especially in my native language. It can help motivate people and offer them something positive in their life.”

2. I have my own track club

“A big dream of mine was always to promote athletics in Bulgaria and set up a kids training club, and I am proud to say I have set this up in Sofia. Currently we have about 100 kids, who are part of the club.

“Facilities in Sofia are not always the best and sometimes the youngsters are forced to train in the park, so it was nice to set up a club where they could train at a proper track.

“I have a great team to run the club. My father is the director, my mother the physio and my sister also works in administration. I also have two trusted coaches, who work at the club. I am very proud of the club and although I live in Italy, I try to meet with the kids three of four times a year.

“My long term dream in the future is to expand the club and attract even more kids.”

3. I sing in the shower

“I believe all athletes have great rhythm and the music inside of them. I love to sing.

“I was a member of the school choir up until the age of 12 before I chose track and field over music. Yet I grew up with music. My sister had a really long relationship with a musician, so I have been around musicians and music for a long time.

“I enjoy listening to a range of music. I have been listening to Rihanna’s latest album and I like R'n'B, hip-hop and house. I sing all the time, but the best place to sing is under the shower. My under the shower song is Terence Trent D’Arby’s Holding on to You!”
